Vertrouwen
Children's home 'Vertrouwen' during the World
War II (hiding place of Marcel and Philip Staal).
Anyone who is aware of this detailed and well-phrased study based on substantiated documents, cannot but conclude that the Jewish war orphans were deprived by Jewish institutions of a share of their property and that the JMW (Dutch Jewish Social Work Foundation) deliberately passed on false information to the court of justice, in order to keep these sordid acts wrapped in mystery. In this respect, history repeats itself.
The Netherlands, Prof. dr. (economy) Arnold Heertje, 21 January 2009.

Stainless is first of all the heartbreaking story of a toddler who lost his parents during the Second World War and who, after years of hiding, ended up in orphanages and secondly an historical document that reconstructs the process of financial restoration of rights long after the war. It is very carefully documented and supported by extensive references to the source material. All documents are accessible on www.wezen.org enabling anyone to check the reliability of the source material.

It is inconceivable that, more than sixty years after the Second World War, the struggle of the war orphans to conduct an independent investigation into the asset management of their estates is so unequal and is proceeding so slowly. This book is seeking an answer to the above question against the background of fundamental differences of opinion held by the opposing parties, as to the very nature and desirability of such an investigation.
